I was pretty proud that the app was named by Culture Trip as a top ten cultural apps. It was right up there with MOMA’s app! I had fun designing icons, a splash page, and doing the content research. It was also new to Dramaforum – the company had just recently hired a Senior Developer who had worked at Large Animal Games in New York, and he was a huge proponent of Scrum. (Read about scrum at Large Animal here.) This was also during a period when Dramaforum was rebuilding the primary product, Petra’s Planet, a browser-based virtual world for children. This led to a rebranding of the product but also of the web presence. It also has worked in silos across these business platforms for decades which created variations of design standards and workflows. This made it quite a challenge when our consulting firm took over the contract from a competitor and had no runway or training to understand the complex system of process and design workarounds. Large-scale design strategy and delivery projects such as this one for a large enterprise financial client who is known for hefty process weight in their home mortgage LOB definitely requires telling a story first.
